Endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure used to examine a person’s digestive tract through the use of an endoscope (a flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it) which always relays images to a screen.
At German Medical Center, we have a team of highly qualified and experienced staff who always ensure that needs of our patients are met.
Oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (OGD) is an examination of your oesophagus (gullet), stomach and the first part of your small intestine called the duodenum. The instrument used in this investigation is called a gastroscope. It is flexible and has a diameter less than that of a little finger. The gastroscope relays images back to the Endoscopist on a TV screen.
OGD can be used to diagnose gastric illness.Often a small piece of tissue (biopsy) is removed to check for abnormal cells.
A colonoscopy is an exam used to detect changes or abnormalities in the large intestine (colon) and rectum.
During a colonoscopy, a long, flexible tube (colonoscope) is inserted into the rectum. A tiny video camera at the tip of the tube allows the doctor to view the inside of the entire colon.
